New name. Same us.

A letter from our Executive Director -

Since 2013, our club has been partnered with the Portland Timbers as a Timbers Alliance Member. This spring, we are announcing that we are leaving the Timbers Alliance and rebranding to “Capital Futbol Club.”

In 2017, we at CFC took ownership of the USL League Two Timbers U23 team to bring pre-professional soccer back to our city. We have built connections between players and fans. We have watched athletes from around the world develop into members of our community. We have seem local players complete their #Path2Pro journey. We have made history. And will continue to do so. Just this time, with a new name.

We've decided it's time that we honor our past and step into the light as our own club without any affiliations. We believe that we will be able to better serve our community and membership through rebranding as Capital Futbol Club.

We currently experience some brand confusion around who we are to those who do not know us in our community, getting things mixed between us and the Timbers. We will be the same team. We will have the same players with the same drive. We will have the same coaching staff who have the same care and championship mindset. We will have the same staff and club foundation built from our community. All this greatness and more - under the new name of "Atletico."

We are excited to begin this new chapter in Capital FC’s history and look forward to what is to come. It is because of your support that we are who we are today.

We honor the past, and look forward to the future as CFC lives out its mission to provide better soccer, develop better people, and create a stronger community!

Thank you for your support as we move away from being your "Timbers U23" squad into being Capital FC Atletico.

Yours in soccer,

Collin Box

Executive Director
