Timbers U23 Defeat Lane United FC 2-0 to Stay on Top of the NW Division

EUGENE, Ore. -- The Timbers U23 squad remains undefeated as they take down Lane United FC with an exciting 2-0 W on the road June 11th.

The game kicked off in Eugene, Oregon for teams first of three matchups in the 2021 season.

Applying pressure early on, Lane almost snuck a goal past George Tasouris who was able to make the save. However, the Timbers came back and quickly went up 1-0 in the 24' minute thanks to a striking goal from Pablo Greenlee with an assist from Luke Bone.

The squad was up 1-0 at the half making one substitute of Marios Andreou for Bone.

Keeping the pressure high, the Timbers U23 had multiple chances early in the second half and were finally able to capitalize in the 52' when Jose Sosa dribbled through the back line and skillfully placed one in.

The Timbers U23 had multiple chances late in the game, but Lane United's goalkeeper kept them out.

The match ended with a 2-0 W for the Timbers who keep their number one spot in the NW Division. George Tasouris records his second clean sheet of the season.

"Shutout soccer always makes me happy," said Head Coach, Matt Broadhead. "Building on things one half at a time. Looking forward to two more halves coming up on Sunday."

The Timbers U23 hit the road against Sunday at 2pm against OVF Alliance for their second matchup the season. The teams met two weeks ago in Salem where the Timbers U23 kicked off their season with a 3-0 at home win.
