Timbers U23 Announce Next set of Players for the 2021 Season

SALEM, Ore. -- The Timbers U23 squad have just announced another 6 players set for the 2021 squad. Players have been announced throughout the week, coming in from Grand Canyon University, Saint Mary’s College, Gonzaga University, Corban University, UCLA, and University of Notre Dame.

Here’s a look at this weeks new members of your 2021 roster -

George Tasouris (Pending League Approval) | Goalkeeper | Grand Canyon University

  • 2021 WAC Defensive Player of the Year.

  • All WAC First Team 2021.

  • Led the team to a 2021 Conference Title.

  • .86 goals-against average, ranked 52nd in the NCAA.

  • 2019 All WAC Honorable Mention.

  • Earned All-WAC Second Team and Freshman Team honors in 2019.

David Brog | Forward | Saint Mary’s College

  • Led the team to a Conference Title n 2018 & 2019.

  • Integral part of the squad that has the best record over three seasons in the nation (40-4-3).

  • Played club for Inter FC.

  • Has appeared in 36 games for SMC.

Angelo Calfo (Pending League Approval) | Midfielder | Gonzaga University

  • Played club for Richmond International American Soccer Academy in Leeds, England.

  • Captained RIASA Showcase team and led them to the JFC tournament finals.

  • Joined Gonzaga this year and named Team Captain.

  • Started all 11 games in 2021 Spring Season, with an Assist.

Chadwayne Johnson (Pending League Approval) | Midfielder | Corban University

  • Joined the squad in 2019 when they had their first undefeated season.

  • In 2019 he started 5/12 games, earning 568 minutes and getting three assists.

  • Won the Conference Title in 2018 & 2019.

  • Named Second-Team All Conference in 2021

  • In 2021 he had three goals and an Assist.

Jose Sosa | Midfielder | UCLA

  • Spent his Freshman season at the University of the Pacific (2018).

  • 2018 he was named WCC All-Freshman Team.

  • 2018 season he scored one Goal and had three Assists.

  • Played in all 12 games his first season at UCLA, earning 843 minutes with an Assist.

Philip (Phil) Quenton | Defender | University of Notre Dame

  • As a Freshman in 2018 he started five matches as a Center Back.

  • Three of his first starts he anchored the backline to clean sheets.

  • In 2019 he started 11/12 games with five Shutouts.

  • Recorded his first Assist of his Irish career in the Shutout win over Purdue Fort Wayne.
