TIMBERS U23 ADD FOUR MORE PLAYERS TO 2020 ROSTER

SALEM, Ore. -- The Timbers U23 have just announced four more players to join their 2020 roster. The previous eight players released can be found here. Grand Canyon University and St. Mary's bring two more standouts while two new players from Western Illinois look to hit the pitch. All players are Pending League and Federation Approval.

Marios Andreou | Midfielder | Grand Canyon University

Marios is a sophomore from Cyprus who in 2018 received WAC All Freshman Team Honors while starting 20 of 21 games with over 1,500 minutes as a true freshman. Marios started 16-16 games for GCU this last fall in 2019 while logging over 1,300 min running the midfield in a deep lying role with 1 goal and 1 assist. Marios was a member of the Cyprus u19 National Team and played for Apollon Limassol as well as Alki Oroklini.

James Person | Centerback | St. Mary’s College of California

James is a CB from Walnut Creek CA who attended De La Salle HS. As a freshman in 2018 James started 20-20 games and logged over 1,700 minutes while earning WCC All-Freshman Team Honors. In 2019 James logged over 1,000 min with 12-13 starts registering 1 goal. In the past 2 years James has been an integral part of helping lead St. Mary’s to record years with an overall record of 34 wins, 2 losses, and 2 ties. 

Paul Kirdorf | Right back | Western Illinois

Paul is a RB from Kaub Germany who just finished a fantastic Junior year and has made quite a name for himself in the Summit League with Western Illinois. As a freshman in 2017 Paul started 10-11 matches logging over 800 minutes while registering 3 assists. In 2018 his sophomore year Paul was named to the Summit League 2nd Team while starting 14 games logging over ,1200 minutes with 2 goals and 3 assists for a team high 7 points from the RB position. In 2019 Paul was named Summit League Defender of the Year, All-Summit League 1st Team, Summit League Player to Watch, and Offensive Player of the Week Oct 12. Paul started 17 games logging over 1,300 minutes while registering 2 goals and 2 assists. Paul was also named to the Summit League Academic All-League Team to round himself out as a quality student/athlete.  

Daisuke Otsuka | Midfielder | Western Illinois

Daisuke is a Junior MF from Matsudo Japan who transitioned seamlessly into the NCAA D1 game as a transfer from Tyler Junior College in Texas. In 2019 “Dai” was named to the Summit League All-Newcomer Team as well as the Summit League Championship All-Tournament Team. Dai started 16-18 games while logging over 1,200 minutes scoring 6 big time goals for Western. Dai scored the tying and go ahead goals in the Summit League Championship Semi Final against Omaha, the game winner against Eastern Illinois to clinch a post-season berth, as well as goals against Milwaukee, Denver, and Oral Roberts. Dai played youth soccer with the Kashima Antlers of the very prestigious Youth J-League in Japan.
